If these ideas can be realized over the next 300 years, we’ve done our job; if they can be realized sooner, all the better.

Anything that involves physical activity in a controlled environment is at the greatest risk of being automated.² But many futurists expect robots or intelligent machines to eventually take over an abundance of office and white-collar tasks as well.
Advances in biotechnology and medicine—along with a faster and ever-expanding Internet—may create the deepest and broadest revolution in the history of mankind.

Cultural, Demographic, and Economic Changes

Technology is probably the strongest force that will influence the labor markets of tomorrow, but many other factors will play major roles too. For example, in much of the developed world, the population is rapidly aging. By 2050, the number of people on Earth over the age of 60 is anticipated to more than double. And the number of people over the age of 80 is expected to more than triple.⁴ But technology may continue to extend our lifespans, which will amplify that already-significant trend.
Aside from human aging and longevity, the future is also likely to be transformed by factors such as the growing “sharing economy,” the rise of freelance and project-based work, the expanded use of blockchain technology for economic transactions, and an exponential increase in data collection related to almost all areas of our lives.

Add up all the property in the entire world, and you get $217 trillion (£152.2 trillion) of assets, a new report has suggested – that’s 2.7 times the world’s GDP.

“To give this figure context, the total value of all the gold ever mined is approximately $6 trillion, which pales in comparison to the total value of value of developed property by a factor of 36 to one,” said Yolande Barnes, head of Savills world research.

The research, by Savills, showed residential property makes up by far the biggest portion of real estate, worth $162 trillion.

Homes also have the largest “spread of ownership” – ie. the the largest number of owners – with approximately 2.5bn households.

Meanwhile, commercial property made up $29 trillion, while agricultural and forestry land was worth about $26 trillion.

By comparison, the total value of world equities is $55 trillion – while outstanding securitised debt is worth about $94 trillion.
