TH Adopts “Stewardship” and “Civilizational Design” — Retiring Colonial Language

Team Humanity has completed a platform-wide language update, retiring the word “governance” — a term with colonial roots implying a ruling class over subjects — across all documents, plugins, and web pages.

Replacements reflect TH’s actual philosophy:

  • Stewardship — for councils, bodies, and oversight roles (caring for, not ruling over)
  • Civilizational Design — for structural and architectural contexts (echoing TH’s own tagline: Open Source Civilizational Design)
  • Coordination — for systems and frameworks
  • Self-Determination — for rights-based contexts

The word “governance” implies nine billion people are being managed by someone. TH is nine billion people in the orchestra — the language has to match the reality.
